Sümer Sayın graduated from Marmara University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department in 2007. She studied at Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon in the years 2004-2005 through Erasmus programme, and received her master’s degree in 2010 from Oslo Fine Art Academy.

Sayın deals mostly with the relationship of systems and the nature in her work, using various media. She had solo shows in Oslo, New York, Istanbul and Madrid. Her works have been shown in many international exhibitions, including Stay With Me at Apartment Project Berlin, 31 Kilo at Künstlerhaus Dortmund, Nights of Museums and Galleries Plovdiv, Technical Ecstasy at Kuad Gallery, Focus 1: Serbest Çağrışım at Daire Gallery 2014, Sinop Biennial (2012), Skopje Biennial (2009) and Athens Video Art Festival 2008. Sayın, who was given the ResArtis Award in 2009, participated in freeDimensional residency program in New York. She also took part in Buffer Zone project, organized by Apartment Project and Penelopolis project in Montenegro in 2013. 

Sümer Sayın lives and works in Berlin.
