İz Öztat organized “cura bodrum residency” in Muğla between 2008-2011, as an investigation into self-organization and non-institutional support mechanisms. Since 2010, she is engaged in an untimely collaboration with Zişan (1894-1970), who appears to her as a historical figure, channelled spirit and an alter ego. Her selected exhibitions include Conducted in depth and projected at length, Heidelberger Kunstverein, Germany (2014); Rendez-vous 13, Institut d’art Contemporain, Lyon, France (2013); Here Together Now, Matadero Madrid (2013); I am not dealing with triangle, square and circle, Maçka Sanat Galerisi, Istanbul (2012); Underconstruction, Apartment Project Berlin (2012); Second Exhibition, ARTER, Istanbul (2010).
İz Öztat lives and works in Istanbul. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Art Practice at Yıldız Technical University.
