
Born in 1986, Istanbul-based artist Bilal Yılmaz works across art, design, engineering and craft. His interdisciplinary practice focuses on developing experimental methods that turn research processes into artistic narratives. Alongside his artistic work, he designs collective tools and environments that encourage shared ways of thinking and making. Working at the intersection of installation and experience design, he creates digital platforms, stages and temporary interventions that activate communities and invite public engagement.
Yılmaz’s work has been presented at the 15th Istanbul Biennial (2017), the Contemporary Art Museum of Skopje (2025), Çanakkale Biennial (2024), Istanbul Modern (2024), Pera Museum (2023), Yanköşe (2021), Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki (2025), the 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial (2014), the International Centre of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana (2018) and MAKK – Museum of Applied Arts Cologne (2017). He regularly takes part in talks and workshops at various institutions in Türkiye and abroad.
