Due to unforeseen travel restrictions, Cansu Yıldıran – who was previously announced as a participant in this year’s Cité des Arts artist residency programme in Paris – will now take part in the programme during the July–September 2026 term. Begüm Yamanlar, who had been selected as a reserve candidate, will take part in the residency during the October–December 2025 term in Yıldıran’s place.

Begüm Yamanlar graduated from the Photography and Video Department at Bahçeşehir University and went on to complete an MA in Visual Arts at Sabancı University. She later received a PhD in Cinema and Media Studies from Bahçeşehir University. She is currently teaching visual arts, photography, and video art at Istanbul Bilgi University.
In her artistic practice, Yamanlar brings together video, photography, and diverse media. Her work investigates ecological changes that are imperceptible to the human eye and large-scale formations beyond human perception – hyperobjects. She explores how the boundaries between concepts such as time, space, nature, and technology become increasingly blurred, reimagining these transitional zones through artistic means.
Her works have been exhibited in solo shows at Galeri Zilberman, Öktem Aykut Gallery, and the Şerefiye Cistern, and featured in group exhibitions at institutions such as Arter, Istanbul Modern, Sabancı Museum, and OMM. She has also participated in international exhibition programmes in France, Sweden, Germany, and Italy, including ArtCOP (Paris), Focus Turkey (Landskrona Museum, Sweden), Meeting World Heritage (Ruhr Museum, Germany), The Surface of the World: Architecture and the Moving Image (Museum of Contemporary Art and Design, Philippines), and TERRA (Beaune, France).
Based in Istanbul, Yamanlar continues to produce both artistic and academic work in the fields of visual arts and media studies.
