İKSV Alt Kat is organising a workshop programme, with the cooperation of the Istanbul Biennial and support of the Istanbul Development Agency, where children and teenagers will have the opportunity to experience the creation process of an artwork with a professional artist.

The first of the workshops was led by Volkan Aslan during a twelve-week period between April-June 2019 at İKSV Alt Kat: Learning and Interaction Space. During the first stage of the workshop, two groups of participants aged 14-18 from various schools in the Beyoğlu and Fatih focussed on daily life and personal stories. During the second stage, participants had the chance to collectively think and create on the Seventh Continent, the conceptual framework of the 16th Istanbul Biennial. At the end of the workshop, the young participants produced artworks after working collectively. Two videos produced as a result of the workshop were exhibited at the Blue Panda, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) sailboat which visited various parts of Istanbul during the 16th Istanbul Biennial.

The second phase of the workshop will be held at İKSV Alt Kat: Learning and Interaction Space starting in December 2019 and be supervised by a different artist with the participation of children aged 10-14 coming from various NGO’s and schools.
