****

nothing less than a true German Augenschmaus – a “feast for the eyes”’ Bachtrack

A leading ballet company of our day renowned for their grandiose productions and impeccable performances, Ballett Zürich will captivate the audiences in Istanbul with Christian Spuck’s adaptation of Anna Karenina, in a performance never-to-be-forgotten.

In his masterpiece, Tolstoy tells the story of the love that frees Anna as well as bringing her demise, all the while depicting a multi-layered panorama of the Russian society at the end of the 19th century. Christian Spuck’s Anna Karenina transforms Tolstoy’s characters into mesmerising choreographic images, with its lush costumes, modern stage design, mainly Neoclassic choreography, music choice spanning Rachmaninov and Lutoslawski, and with the spectacular performances of the Ballett Zürich dancers.

With dancers all of soloist calibre and choreographers of world-renown, each and every one of Ballett Zürich productions is an internationally acclaimed hit. The company performs a significant portion of the Opernhaus Zürich programme as well as touring extensively from America to Far East, across Europe and to festivals such as Edinburgh, while their appearance at the Istanbul Music Festival in 2012 is still fresh in minds. Ballett Zürich regularly collaborates with eminent choreographers including William Forsythe, Sol León/Paul Lightfoot, Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek, and Crystal Pite, besides productions under its award-winning artistic director Christian Spuck.

Brought to you by İKSV and Zorlu PSM within the scope of the 50th anniversary celebrations of İKSV, Ballett Zürich’s Anna Karenina is not to miss!
