Tayfun Serttaş is a visual artist, writer and researcher. He graduated from Istanbul University’s Social Anthropology Department in 2004. He completed his MA at Yıldız Technical University Art and Design Faculty, Interdisciplinary Art Program in 2007 with a thesis titled “Photography And Minorities in Istanbul in the Context of Modernism and Cultural Representation”.
Serttaş participated in artist residency programmes such as AIF Residency Program, Arab Image Foundation, Beirut, Lebanon (2011); Accented Residency Program, The Delfina Foundation, London, United Kingdom (2010); and Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center, Istanbul, Turkey (2009). Recent solo exhibitions include Foto Galatasaray, FOAM, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2013); Bazan, Pilevneli Project, Istanbul, Turkey (2012); Middle East Airlines, ArtSümer, Istanbul, Turkey (2012); Foto Galatasaray, SALT Galata, Istanbul, Turkey (2011); ReMap 3, Kalfayan Gallery, Athens, Greece (2011); Souvenir Trauma, Zico House, Beirut, Lebanon (2011); Tailor’s Dream M&M, Apartment Project, Istanbul, Turkey (2011); Studio Osep, Delfina Foundation, London, United Kingdom (2010). In November 2009, he published his first book, Studio Osep, followed by his second book titled Galatasaray – Studio Practice by Maryam Şahinyan, published in November 2011.
Tayfun Serttaş lives in Istanbul and Bodrum.
