Open call period for Be Mobile – Create Together! – an artists’ exchange program under EU-Turkey Intercultural Dialogue Program, supported by European Union and the Republic Of Turkey, has ended.
Be Mobile – Create Together! is supported by four established and active cultural institutions in Turkey – Institut français de Turquie, Embassy of the Netherlands in Turkey, Goethe-Institut and İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) – and brings together sixteen well-respected artist residencies across France, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey to enable emerging artists and authors to spend time in artist residencies across Europe and Turkey. The mobility-based, co-creation-oriented and peer-learning-focused Be Mobile – Create Together! is realised within the framework of the EU-Turkey Intercultural Dialogue project, which is co-funded by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey.
Be Mobile – Create Together! sets out to initiate a wide international network of artists and authors working in the creative arts and arts institutions from Europe and Turkey, fostering emerging talent. It will provide artists with an ideal environment for creation and production as well as opportunities for getting involved in local art and cultural scenes.
Over 600 applications received from France, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey
The open call announcement for Be Mobile – Create Together! which is aimed at emerging artists from the fields of visual, digital and performing arts, and emerging authors, from France, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey, was made at a press conference at Salon İKSV on March 20th, 2019. Artists who have lived and worked over the last three years in one of the partner countries, who have started building a career, have participated in exhibitions and can successfully demonstrate an evolving portfolio that underlines statements in their artistic practice, were invited to apply to the project.
Over 600 applications were made to Be Mobile – Create Together! during the open call period. Over 60 % of the applications were made by artists in Turkey to participate in residency programmes in France, Germany and the Netherlands, followed by artists in France, Germany and the Netherlands, in that order, applying to the residency programmes in Turkey.
Artists who will be accepted to residency pogrammes will be announced at the end of June
In the framework of Be Mobile - Create Together! around 30 artists from Turkey, France, Germany and the Netherlands will participate in the residency programmes. The project will connect residency programmes in Europe and Turkey, providing artists with an ideal environment for creativity and productivity as well as the possibility of getting involved in local arts and cultural scenes, thereby allowing them to enrich their own practices through the exchange of skills and experiences. Artists’ costs related to travel, transportation and artistic work production will be covered.
The selection process will be divided in three stages: eligibility phase, pre-selection, and evaluation by an international jury. During the first stage (until 15 May), an independent committee will check the eligibility of the applications. In the next month-long phase, all eligible applications will be evaluated by a committee established by each residency. This committee will submit their pre-selected candidates for evaluation by a final jury. This jury (including representatives from the residencies and the partners of the project) will meet in İstanbul at the end of June to decide on the laureates for the residency programmes. The results will be announced by 30 June 2019 on www.bemobilecreatetogether.eu website.
