Netflix, İKSV and Cinema & Broadcasting Union establish new Covid-19 Film and Television Relief Fund for hardest hit workers

Netflix, Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) and Cinema & Broadcasting Union of Turkey have partnered to create a new COVID-19 Film and Television Relief Fund to help the hardest hit workers in the Turkish creative community.

The fund, managed by İKSV and Cinema & Broadcasting Union and set up with a TRY 4 million donation from Netflix, aims to provide short-term relief to thousands of workers and freelancers affected by the halt in productions across Turkey.

Workers such as assistants, coordinators, technicians and operators from different production departments like camera, sound, art, make-up, costume design, locations and transportation, among others, many of whom are paid hourly wages and work on a project-to-project basis, will be eligible to apply for the TRY 2,500 one-time benefit.

Starting from May 27, the members of the Turkish creative community will be able to apply by filling out an online application at Cinema & Broadcasting Union’s website. An evaluation board composed of members from İKSV and the Union will review applicants and determine the recipients within three weeks.
