The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), commissioner of the Türkiye Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia since 2007, launched a two-stage open call to select the project for the Türkiye Pavilion at the 20th International Architecture Exhibition in 2027. The Selection Committee, comprising Hülya Ertaş, Bilge Kalfa, Cem Sorguç, Melis Varkal and Prof. Dr. Şebnem Yücel, reviewed 43 project applications in the first stage and invited three to proceed to the second round. The shortlisted projects are:

Crafts and Grafts: Atlas of an Architecture of Additions
Ilgın Avcı and Alişan Çırakoğlu

(un)do: cultural improvisations
Nisa Gökgöz

Spolia Futures
Ece Yetim, Asya Ece Uzmay, Başak Eren, Beril Sarısakal Erkent

In the first stage, projects were evaluated based on their alignment with the curatorial theme, feasibility, and the organisational structure of the team. In the second stage, the teams will present detailed exhibition designs, working methods, printed materials, timelines, and budgets. The leaders of the shortlisted projects will receive an honorarium to further develop their proposals, which they will present to the Selection Committee and the İKSV team.

The final selection for the Türkiye Pavilion at the 20th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia will be announced at the end of July.
