As of 5 September 2017, Yeşim Gürer Oymak, the Director of Istanbul Music Festival since 2006, will also assume the role of the Deputy Director General of İKSV.

Apart from her new role, Yeşim Gürer Oymak will continue to carry out her duties as the Director of Istanbul Music Festival, as well as the Leyla Gencer Voice Competition, both organised by İKSV.

Gürer Oymak earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Language & Literature from Boğaziçi University and Istanbul University State Conservatory Piano Department after studying at Saint-Benoît French High School. She holds a master's degree from Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory and a doctorate in Musicology from Istanbul University State Conservatory.

She was a faculty member and Assistant Professor at Istanbul University State Conservatory between 1996 and 2016. During this time, she also chaired the Department of Musicology and was appointed as a member of the executive board of Ottoman Music Application and Research Centre - OMAR.

In 2000, Gürer Oymak became the Founding Director of İş Sanat Cultural Centre, resuming her post until 2006. She also coordinated the classical music events organised as part of the "Cultural Season of Turkey in France", a joint project realised in France by the Ministries of International Affairs of Turkey and France, between 2009 and 2010. She holds a "Bene Merito" honorary distinction from the Ministry of International Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
