Zorlu Center Performing Arts Center Drama Stage

İKSV hosts a highly acclaimed special performance in October with the support of The Danish Cultural Institute and Zorlu Performance Arts Center that will be the event's venue sponsor. The British cabaret-punk band The Tiger Lillies whose theatrical performances music lovers of Istanbul are closely acquainted with will be in Istanbul for three nights with their unique adaptation of Shakespeare's famous tragedy Hamlet.

"The Tiger Lillies Perform Hamlet" produced by the Danish theater company Theatre Republique under the direction of Martin Tulinius and The Tiger Lillies will be performed at the Zorlu Performance Arts Center Drama Stage on Thursday October 15th, Friday October 16th and Saturday October 17th.

Hamlet that has been performed in a wide range of stagings ranging from traditional adaptations to contemporary ones by a great number of theaters and companies, is now staged with a completely different adaptation. The Danish theater company Theatre Republique and The Tiger Lillies, well-known for their unusual style mixing Gypsy music and opera, will stage Shakespeare's famous tragedy Hamlet with their adaptation of it as a "Grotesque Opera". *

"The Tiger Lillies Perform Hamlet" in which music, contemporary circus, puppets and impressive video images take place, will ensure that its audience has a unique musical experience. This project that brings together the music by The Tiger Lillies composed specially for it and the creative stage design of Theatre Republique's artistic director Martin Tulinius, presents a fascinating world composed of music, imagery and movement.
