Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre

Canadian poet-singer, songwriter and musician Leonard Cohen met with music lovers on August 5-6, 2009 with the collaboration of IKSV and BKM. Cohen came to Turkey as part of his 2009 World Tour and gave a 3-hour musical feast to his Istanbulite fans at Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theatre.

Around 5,000 people participated to the concert in which Cohen, who took the stage in Istanbul for the first time in his career of over 40 years, met with his fans. Cohen's classical songs "Dance Me To The End Of Love", "Famous Blue Raincoat", "Suzanne", "Hallelujah So Long", "Marianne", "I'm Your Man", "First We Take Manhattan" were met with great enthusiasm by fans.

The first European leg of Leonard Cohen's 2009 European tour, which he started in April in Canada, was held in Cologne, Germany. Before his Istanbul concerts, the artist gave concerts two days in a row in Germany, Belgium, France, the UK, Norway, Ireland, Portugal and Italy. Leonard Cohen's 2009 World Tour continued with France, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, Romania and Spain concerts and ended with the Barcelona concert on September 21.

Cohen set a record by having 40 concerts in 34 different cities of 16 European countries and gave a concert that will long last in the memories of his Istanbulite fans.
