The children’s book titled Optigull and Pesigull: The Map of Lost Sounds was published in October 2025 with the support of Hisar Schools as part of the 18th Istanbul Biennial.
Written by Yekta Kopan, illustrated by Gökçe Akgül, and edited by Burcu Ural Kopan, the book continues the adventures of the Istanbul seagulls who first met children with Optigull and Pesigull: A Good Neighbour Song at the 15th Istanbul Biennial. In this new story, the two friends set out on a journey through a silent Istanbul to find their lost friend, guided by a wise cat named Kita. Along the way, they search for the city’s lost sounds, encouraging children to listen closely to their surroundings and discover the power of imagination.
Published in Turkish and English, Optigull and Pesigull: The Map of Lost Sounds is distributed free of charge throughout the biennial at Galata Greek Primary School, Zihni Han, and İKSV Alt Kat.
