The children’s book A Day at the Theatre was published under the scope of the 23rd Istanbul Theatre Festival held between the dates 13 November and 1 December, 2019, with the support of Bernard Van Leer Foundation.

The book written by Sevinç Erbulak and illustrated by Gözde Eyce was edited by Burcu Ural Kopan. A Day at the Theatre familiarises children with both the festival and theatre, and tells the story of how a performance at the İstanbul Theatre Festival is realised by walking around in a theatre hall.

Published in Turkish, English and Arabic, the book was made available free of charge at select festival venues on show dates, affiliated bookstores and İKSV Alt Kat: Learning and Interaction Space for the duration of the festival.

Special events in connection with A Day at the Theatre were organised for 3-5 and 6-8 age groups at Baba Stage and UNIQ Hall with the participation of the author of the book, Sevinç Erbulak. Participating children found the opportunity to visit theatre halls and explore the book with Sevinç Erbulak at these events.
