Merve Şendil (1982, Ankara) graduated from Dokuz Eylül University’s Faculty of Fine Arts Painting Department. 

Şendil established the “Underscene Project” in 2007 and participated in guest programs in France and Hungary as well as joint exhibitions in Finland, Switzerland and Germany. Her works usually offer clues about real life and her expectations. She uses various techniques and materials for depicting the multiple facts of the universe of her dreams. She inescapably uses sound both in her solo works or those she make in collaboration with other artists. In her recent works, she uses books and stories of her own making to integrate written and visual languages. She believes that hand-knitted works makes a connection between her fantasies and the real world.

Merve Şendil lives and works in Istanbul.
