"When Inti Illimani was in Italy on tour, Pinochet ‘s military coup took place in Chile, and thus the group could not return to Chile for fifteen years, staying in Italy on exile. I was only two years old when they came, therefore they are a very important reference point of my childhood. They could stay in Italy because the Communist Party provided them with a place to stay and financial means, also they suggested the group not to return to Chile. I cannot forget that one time during a concert, they were singing "El pueblo unido jamas sera vencido" and I was singing along with them.
