The video screening which was announced to be realised on Wednesday, 2 December is postponed to a further date.

The 56th International Art Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia opened to public on 9 May, ended on Sunday, 22 November 2015. Respiro, an installation by the influential conceptual artist Sarkis (b. 1938, Çaylak Sokak, Istanbul), curated by Defne Ayas (Director of Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art) and organised by İKSV was on view in the Pavilion of Turkey at Sale d'Armi, Arsenale.

The 56th International Art Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia, which featured 89 country pavilions including Turkey, besides curator Okwui Enwezor's main exhibition entitled "All the World's Futures", attracted over 500.000 visitors in nearly 7 months that it was open to the public.

The Pavilion of Turkey at the 56th International Art Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia received great interest from local and international media as well as the art world. Respiro was featured in more than 400 articles including The Independent, Le Monde, Le Figaro, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Süddeutsche Zeitung, La Repubblica, Frieze, Kunstbeeld, Art Review, The Art Newspaper, Art Presse, Canvas Magazine, Beaux-Arts, Connaissance des Arts, Art Review Asia among many others.

Six 'messenger' installations in addition to Sarkis's Respiro were on view in France, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Turkey simultaneously to create a continuous dialogue with the works in the Pavilion of Turkey. As a prelude to Respiro, Sarkis has gifted a site-specific work titled Altın Ikona (Golden Icon) to the exhibition hall of the Hrant Dink Foundation in Istanbul, which is on view since March 2015.

The exhibition in the Pavilion of Turkey at la Biennale di Venezia is sponsored by Fiat and realised with the contribution of The Promotion Fund of the Turkish Prime Ministry, under the auspices of Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with the production support of SAHA Association. The Pavilion of Turkey, a dedicated long-term venue at the Arsenale, is an initiative of İKSV, also supported by the generous contribution of twenty-one supporters.

The details of the Pavilion of Turkey at the 57th International Art Exhibition will be announced by İKSV in 2016.

On the occasion of the closing of Respiro at the Pavilion of Turkey at the 56th International Art Exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia, two videos by Ali Kazma will be screened. 5 minutes long new video Breath / Nefes (2015) on Respiro, filmed at the Pavilion of Turkey in Venice, will be shown for the first time with the participation of Sarkis and Ali Kazma. Atelier Sarkis / L'atelier Sarkis (2015) by Ali Kazma, which was premiered at the Hrant Dink Foundation on 7 May 2015 simultaneously with the opening of Respiro in Venice, will also be screened at Salon İKSV on 2 December. In this 7 minutes long video, which is an addition to his ongoing video series Resistance first shown at the Pavilion of Turkey at la Biennale di Venezia in 2013, Kazma turns his camera to Sarkis's studio in Paris-the current home of his artistic production, which spans over fifty years.
