The folk rock legend was in Istanbul for the first time. As the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" defines, "one of rock and roll's greatest songwriters and performers" and the creator of unforgettable songs, Neil Young performed with his band the Crazy Horse in a concert sponsored by Vodafone Red, on Tuesday 15 July at KüçükÇiftlik Park.

Releasing a total of 50 albums since the 1970's, Young never compromised his dissenting, pacifist, and environmentalist stance. Psychedelic Pill, the musician's latest album which he recorded with the band Crazy Horse, was nominated for a "Best Rock Album" Grammy. The creator of many unforgettable songs, such as "Only Love Can break Your Heart," "Rockin' In The Free World", "Heart Of Gold", "Old Man", "Hey Hey, My My", and "Harvest Moon," which have all been covered countless times by famous musicians, Neil Young has also received two Grammy awards and an Oscar nomination for the music of the film Philadelphia.

Midlake and Büyük Ev Ablukada was the opening acts of Neil Young & Crazy Horse concert. Büyük Ev Ablukada, one of the most exciting bands of Istanbul alternative music scene welcomed the audience and after Büyük Ev Ablukada, Midlake, a renowned indie folk band from Texas, took the stage. This night was a one-day festival.

Highly anticipated by Neil Young fans and music fans alike, his latest album A Letter Home had recently been released and the digital streaming of this album was available on İKSV's website, until Neil Young's first ever Istanbul concert on 15 July. Neil Young and his band Crazy Horse was not only be playing classics of their own, such as "Only Love Can Break Your Heart", "Rockin' In The Free World", "Heart Of Gold", "Old Man", "Hey Hey, My My", and "Harvest Moon" at their Istanbul concert, but they also be included the fantastic renditions of rock and roll classics from Neil Young's voice as featured on the new album A Letter Home.

Reinterpreting the songs of musicians like Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Don Everly with a new, but yet "old" sound, the album had been garnering acclaim with its quality sound production and unique atmosphere that pervades the whole album. Also containing a recording of Neil Young reading a letter he wrote his departed mother, A Letter Home is a formidable listening experience in which the musician earnestly shares his personal feelings.
